The University of Washington Institute For The Study Of Ethnicity, Race & Sexuality (WISER) recently published its 2010 "Multi-state Survey on Race & Politics". According to WISER, the study, "Led by Prof. Christopher Parker... examines what Americans think about the issues of race, public policy, national politics, and President Obama, one year after the inauguration of the first African American president." In this study, Tea Party adherents were found to be the most dismissive of racial oppression, and the most accepting of government intrusion into the private lives of citizens, in the areas of sexuality, religion, race and politics.

West Chester Area School District Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools Press Release West Chester Area School District Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools On May 24th, 2010, the WCASD Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools will drop banners in protest against the anti-student, anti-education, and anti-teacher policies proposed by the West Chester Area School District’s School Board. The banner drops will take place at Henderson, East and Rustin High Schools. After school that same day, members of the group and other students will attend the school board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Spellman Building to speak out against these policies. This school board meeting is the one in which the budget is set to be voted on. We are also protesting the membership of John Wingerter on the board, a man who co-founded PA Leadership Charter School, which receives funding from the District, and thus presents a large conflict of interest, especially around budget cutting. He still sits on the PALCS board in an advisory position, and he sat in a prominent position up until his election.Information on proposed budget cuts for next year can be found at

An editorial, by me, for the West Chester Area School District Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools, a group whose oppostion to district cuts to our education is beginning to heat up and move toward an eventual day of action.
In this current economic climate, it is not surprising that an enterprising politician would capitalize on the economic fears of many and promise smaller budgets and fewer taxes. This always a wedge issue, more so now. Now even our educations have now become caught up in this politicization, as new ...
