The new year always brings mixed feelings. The hope and joy of what is to come in the new year and the reminder of the dangers of urban living. Mayor Nutters' press office as are other city departments are utilizing the vast number of intelligent students studying in our area. KAMBILI MOUKWA was one of them. He attended the University of Pennsylvania. A night out on the town turns to tragedy. He and a few others in tri-state area fell victim to the dropping thermostat.

Judge orders 11 library branches open

City Solicitor Shelley Smith said the city would appeal “as soon as possible,” both because of the financial impact and the implications for mayoral authority. “It certainly impairs our ability to make decisions that historically the mayor has been empowered to make,” In terms of saving the $8 million annually, Smith said, "That savings will be on hold and we’ll have to go back and find it somewhere else. We’re having a hard enough time bridging this gap,” and noted that Nutter has warned the budget problem could get worse. “To have to find that money again, plus more, it’s a big problem.”Judge Idee C. Fox today ordered Mayor Nutter not to close anylibrary branches without City Council approval.

CONCERNED BLACK LAWYERS to Hold Panel Addressing Police Brutality-Tonight

In the wake of recent events surrounding the brutal confrontation between Philadelphia police officers several local African American lawyers have formed an organization called CONCERNED BLACK LAWYERS to address police brutality and other alarming issues in Philadelphia's African American Community. The group will be holding a panel tonight on the issue:
