Congressional Hearings on Military Sexual Assault

With more and more sexual-assault reports and reports of "noncombat deaths" of American servicewomen, the US military seems more intent on covering it up than on finding the truth. Some recent news: "Who killed Private LaVena Johnson?" by The Daily Voice. "U.S. Military Keeping Secrets About Female Soldiers’ ‘Suicides’?" by Col. Ann Wright And lastly, some footage from the recent Congressional Hearings on Military Sexual Assault, where the proudest achievement the military had to offer in responding to sexual assault was that now sexual-assault survivors could make a complaint without triggering any investigation whatsoever, which was somehow supposed to make the survivors feel safer. (Not surprising, considering that even if an investigation were launched, the survivor would have to still remain serving in the same unit with the perpetrator.) |
