Inquirer has good coverage of Mumia?

by

Is this an April fool's joke? The last two days have featured solid articles about Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Yesterday, featured an article by Emilie Lounsberry covering the press conference on Monday at the federal courthouse, titled Abu-Jamal supporters protest ruling

And today's editorial by Dave Lindorff, titled The Mumia Exception, addressing Judge Ambro's dissent criticizing how "his two colleagues, Chief Judge Anthony Scirica and Judge Robert Cowan, had ignored precedents from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and arbitrarily set a higher bar for this particular appellant."  He cites Linn Washington, who coined the phrase "The Mumia Exception."

Check out these two articles.  Not your "run of the mill" Philly media story typically bashing Mumia and his supporters. Tuesday's Philadelphia Tribue also had an excellent, which can be viewed on their website, but is a kind of atypical format for viewing.  Otherwise buy the paper, as its well worth it.

Also, watch the new you tube video from the federal courthouse here, or embedded.

I haven't seen coverage this good since 1995

The last time I saw semi-decent coverage of the Mumia case by the daily Philly papers was in 1995 after the PCRA hearing had been going on for a while. I remember talking to one reporter outside the courtroom, and he said that he personally didn't like Mumia, but after sitting in that courtroom, day after day, no one could think that Mumia would have ever gotten a fair trial from Judge Sabo.

The truth can be persuasive!

How I remember that!
