What's Aramark's Problem! In August 2007, Aramark suddenly decided it would no longer participate in multi-employer bargaining with Local 32BJ for the janitors it employs to clean its corporate headquarters Local 32BJ and other major janitorial contractor reached an historic agreement on October 15, 2007 that raised wages by 16%, pension contributions by 20%, and provided employer-paid health coverage for over 2,300 commercial office janitors. Nearly 40 janitors in Aramark's corporate headquarters have been working without a contract since October 16, 2007. While other janitors enjoy wage increases and better benefits Aramark holds its employees hostage.
