On Memorial Day weekend, May 25 thru May 28, a consortium of Veterans' groups will erect "Arlington North," a stunning visual display of Tombstones, representing the Human cost of our Iraq war. The display will take place across from the Liberty Bell on Market St, between 5th and 6th Streets.
The Tombstones, erected in rows in a likeness of Arlington National Cemetery, evoke stunned silence, and intense respect for all our lost lives.
Veterans and military families will be present 24 / 7, around the clock, from Friday, May 25th, at 10 a.m., until sunset, Monday, the 28th, honoring our warriors who have fallen in Iraq.

* Taps will be played hourly, live, from 4:30 PM May 25 until Sunset May 28. Veterans and Military Families will be available for interviews throughout
"We won't be giving any speeches, just making a presence here to memorialize our 3,400 fallen brothers, and sisters, who have died in Iraq. 3,400 is not just a number. We want people to really take in
what 3,400 deaths actually looks like," says Bill Perry, one of the National Coordinators of Vietnam Veterans Against the War and a disabled American veteran. "Every tombstone represents a life, and every tombstone represents a devastated family."
Perry, a Levittown resident, was a paratrooper-combat veteran in Vietnam, from 1967 to 1968. He is now retired from the Philadelphia Building Trades. Delaware Valley Veterans for America, Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, and Iraq Veterans Against the War will join Vietnam Veterans Against the War in honoring those we have lost.
Vietnam Veterans Against the War was founded in 1967 to voice returning veterans’ growing opposition to the Vietnam War. The VVAW forced VA recognition of PTSD, and Agent Orange problems. The organization has had a resurgence since the lead up to the war in Iraq. Delaware Valley Veterans for America organizes veterans of all eras. VFW, DAV, & VVA are Congressionally Chartered organizations.
