interdisciplinary cuts at Temple University

Creative response to Governor Corbett's budget cuts. In response to the budget cuts proposed by Governor Corbett, Temple University (so called, "diversity University") has decided to restructure their interdisciplinary departments (LGBT Studies, Women's Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, Jewish Studies, and American Studies) and move them into "home departments" only loosely related to them to save on a few small administrative stipends. Almost 500 people have signed a petition against this but the administration has not been receptive at all to student complaints. This Wednesday, May 4, students will be holding a "Students for Budget Cuts" in the vein of the Billionaires for Bush group to bring attention to the issues surrounding cuts to programs that deal with diversity. This will take place at 11:30 at the Bell Tower and will last 1 hour. It will definitely be sassy. |
