Youth violence is responsible for the fact that homicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for young people ages 10 to 24 years old according to the Center for Disease Control.

But more shocking is the fact that homicide is the leading cause of death for African Americans and the second leading cause of death for Hispanics for youth in this age group.  But the effects of youth violence is in no means restricted to any one group of people, as The Center for Disease Control estimates the cost of youth violence exceeds$158 billioneach year in the USA.

Sweden: The growing nightmare of living with the far-right

Falun, Sweden    On August 11th, UPI headlined "Swastika turns up in child meal", the locale in question being a simple budget restaurant in a city somewhat north of me.  The article noted that the eight-year-old boy's parents "were shocked to find a swastika tattoo in the fast-food meal they purchased for their son".  I regret that I cannot say I am equally surprised.

"This summer, Philadelphia should join the growing number of cities and states around the country that have demanded an end to the controversial practice of turning local police records over to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – essentially turning community safety officers into immigration agents."
stated Maria Quiñones-Sánchez.
Maria Quiñones-Sánchez has been active in her the community for decades. She currently serves here community as a elected representative to city council.
She has posted this petition around the web and she sent me copy via Facebook.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were nuclear attacked, but the natives on Bikini Island, were irradiated and way of life destroyed just because that part of the world complained less than elsewhere. Since none of the world wanted a radiation test sight near them. Also on July 24 there was fear that the atomic explosion might ignite the earth. Perhaps that date should be remember as the date human-kind took and awful plunge.

Every August 6 and 9th a grim omen is commemorated where human-kind lost its naivety that human life is almost inherently permanent. With the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki the human race faced the possibility that unless we learn peace we could end up destroying ourselves.

ISLAMIC BANKING IN NIGERIA, USA, UK, RUSSIA, ETC : MISINFORMATION  & TRUTH

July 17, 2011
Banking policies and practices depend on choice but some people make bad choice and land in hardship, under-development and poverty.

There is nothing like “Islamic Banking” as argued in Nigeria and other places. Lending to customers  and keeping of customers’ monies with/without interests are universal practice void of what is branded Islamic and non-Islamic banking.

worker struggles

Union Busting in America - by Stephen Lendman It dates from America's 19th century industrial expansion when workers moved away from farms to factories, mines, and other urban environments, with harsh working conditions, low pay, and other exploitive abuses. As a result, labor movements emerged, organizing workers to lobby for better rights and safer conditions, pitting them against corporate bosses yielding nothing without a fight. During unionism's formative years, workers were terrorized for organizing. In company-owned towns, they were thrown out of homes, beaten, shot, and hanged to leave management empowered. The 1892 Homestead Steel Works strike culminated in a violent battle between Pinkerton agents and workers.
