Deacon Alexander Endorses Stewart Alexander
Submitted by Lynn Lomibao (no verificado) on Mar, 12/27/2011 - 4:05pmLOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 24, 2011 - While attending a meeting for the Socialist Party of California, former Green Party California governor candidate Deacon Alexander endorsed Stewart Alexander as a candidate for president of the United States in 2012. Stewart Alexander was recently nominated for president during the national convention for the Socialist Party USA on October 16, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Deacon Alexander, a former Black Panther advocate and long time Green Party member, gave his endorsement based upon Stewart Alexander’s commitment to unify a progressive left campaign to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.
Earlier in 2011, Stewart Alexander announced that his campaign would seek the presidential nominations for the Socialist Party USA, the Peace and Freedom Party in California, and the Green Party USA. In June, Stewart Alexander decided against seeking the Green Party’s presidential nomination due to the Green Party’s restriction on running a national campaign that would seek the nomination of other political parties other than the presidential nomination for the Green Party.
Stewart Alexander has not lost confidence that he will still receive support from many Greens nationwide. Alexander notes, “Many of the Green issues are the issues surrounding my campaign; creating good paying jobs and establishing a living wage, ending U.S. military aggression abroad, restoring civil liberties and repealing the Patriot Act, establishing a single-payer health care system, ending homelessness, and protecting the environment of the earth.”
