Here is WSQT Radio (90.5 in DC, 2 hour broadcasts) coverage of the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City. For the weekend, the central part of Wall Street has been blocked off while thousands or protesters have been swarming everywhere else nearby. If protesters can force the cops to keep the barricades Monday, the resulting traffic could itself severely hobble Wall Street's operations!

SHE IS NOT UTILIZING THE NEW SKILLS OUR YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO COMPETE IN TODAY’S WORKFORCE. THEY SHOULD BE TRAINED IN SOLAR PANEL FITTING, WIND TURBINE MANUFACTURING, URBAN GARDENING. INSTEAD OF PROPOSING NEW VOCATIONAL CURRICULUM, ACKERMAN HAS WORKED WITH THE OLD SYSTEM AND ENDS UP CUTTING VOCATIONAL TRAINING.

The strike is put in context, alongside a statewide grassroots movement calling for cuts in prison spending to address California's budget crisis, and a recent US Supreme Court ruling that calls for the reduction of California state prisoners by at least 30,000, in response to overcrowding.

Mostly Black, elderly, fixed-income, disabled residents are being pushed out of their apartment homes, homes they have occupied for 20, 30 years or more, by the ruthless determination of housing corporations, whose only goal is to further their growth and to increase profits. And these corporations accomplish their goal in Style with the misuse of young Black managerial staffs all too eager to please, too eager to "get rich quick."
