Resisting the Economic Crisis! From the G20 to Philly
event detailsposted by: The People's Caravan begins: Oct 18, 8:00 pm ends: Oct 18, 11:00 pm location: Cavalry Church (corner of 48th and Baltimore) |
On September 24th, the twenty richest countries in the world came to Pittsburgh to "fix" the global economy, where they were greeted by mass protests against an economic system that benefits the wealthy. Over 100 people traveled to the G20 together in a "People's Caravan" that met with grassroots community groups from across Pennsylvania, including trailer park residents resisting eviction and people fighting pollution from coal mines.
The struggle for economic and social justice didn't start with the
caravan and it didn't end in Pittsburgh. For years people have been struggling for change in the neighborhoods, schools and workplaces of Philadelphia. Come to the Cavalry Church on October 18th and meet amazing groups fighting for economic justice right in our backyard!
