Come and participate in a discussion about the current coup d'état in Honduras. Does it signal a return to the 1970's when US-military-supported dictatorships were imposed against the will of the peoples in Latin America. Are there differences?

Berta Joubert-Ceci - From the Department of International Relations – Latin American and Caribbean Section - of Workers World Party. Currently working in solidarity with the National Front of Resistance to the Coup in Honduras
See the film MACHUCA:
On September 11, 1973 Augusto Pinochet and the military of Chile seized power in a violent coup d’etat, overthrowing a functioning and peaceful democracy. This dramatization of Chile’s political turmoil and horror is told through the eyes of 11 year old Gonzago, a pampered upper middle class boy who attends a progressive Catholic school and befriends poor indigenous fellow student Pedro Machuca. When the military junta strikes, Gonzago’s hapless innocence is forever shattered as he and his new-found friends careen toward an electrifying and catastrophic ending. 2004; 120 minutes
