Metro today (5/28/09) has an excellent headline and article, and a good layout on disappointment in Chester, over Casino revenue, due to too much completion,

Some who complain only about the Bush administration, also suspect that much more is wrong, but worry that dwelling on something overwhelming would just make themselves and others feel hopeless. There are ways to get around feeling overwhelmed that will let us learn from important history.
Wrong has been done before Bush and Cheney. Cheney wants to be proud of it instead of hiding from it. So we are forced to finally come face with a dark history, to argue wrong doing is wrong. Or else when Republicans are in charge again misbehavior will be routine.
I believe I can talk with insight, without fear-mongering, about a serious problem that touches on the troubling World II policy of working with the Mafia against Hitler, Contra-gate or money from drugs to support the Contras, without making readers feel hopelessly overwhelmed. Something that touches on Lyndon Johnson’s secret, and on supporters of Reagan, Bush Sr., and supporters of Cheney’s confident claims that a new terror attack will exonerate him.

There is nothing more awkward then someone handing you a list of people to vote for without telling why. Finally there is a way to find out what is really going on.
The National Lawyers Guild now lists their member’s opinions on judicial candidates, Open with Abode Reader

The National Lawyer’s guild list has detailed information on each candidate. Most of us don’t want to support Seth Williams only because someone we know does, or strongly oppose Dan McCaffery without knowing someone hurt by him.
And many of us don’t like the idea of pushing a lot of other numbers without knowing much or anything about why we should do so.
Here is how the National Lawyers Guild can make a difference. Philly for Change recommends Angeles Roca #21. Philadelphia Neighborhood Network recommends Sharon Williams Losier Lever $ 27. Neither list has the maximum seven names on it.

Thinking compromise on casinos could let other pressing problems not plunge things downhill.
Many have claimed who is district attorney is as important as who is mayor but not this year. Since no candidate seems to be connected to the casino debate.
Of course DA candidate Seth Williams’ expressed tolerance on civil disobedience could suddenly make a difference to an abusive casino protester who might otherwise get his head smashed in.
Also if the FOP succeeds in getting Municipal Judge, Judge Craig Washington voted out of office, the other judges might think twice before ever challenging a police officer,

We can’t let disappointment over politician’s casino stance make us ignore the other progressive choices they may suggest. Why don’t we all just agree to have a casino at the airport and let rich people casino party on river boats,

Everyone in Philadelphia, let’s unite to stop the progressive community from tearing itself to pieces risking a conservative local sweep in the May 19, local elections. Seth Williams was a meticulous assistant DA and is too moderate to deserve red-baiting. And let’s stop the FOP from successfully blacklisting and removing Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Craig Washington from office,

An actual discussion over the need or lack of it to torture in an emergency, instead of a lot of preaching. A site that urgently needs to be spread around.

All over the Internet, and some newspapers people are preaching torture is always wrong, vs "Let's not admit it in public".
At Capitol Hill site, people are discussing the issue. Talking to each other rather than at each other is a rare occurance.

The US got information through torture, but not by tortureing those who dream of dying for a cause.
