Robert Barnes is the President/CEO of a nonprofit (501 C3) whose sole mission is to provide low cost ($140.00) refurbished PC systems to low income school children and residents in the Philadelphia area. To date, they have helped 325 families and Senior Citizens cross over the "digital divide."
Bob Barnes of the Alphatech-Philly Technology Training Centers, Inc., is offering to provide access to low-cost computers for low-income families. He's a computer technician of 49 years experience, beginning his training in electronics, computer fundamentals and computer repair while serving in the Air Force back in 1962. He personally buys the computers for his program and provides aftercare warranty service on all of the computers sold. If needed, he'll go to the residence of the customer to solve problems, but of course if problems can be brought in, the fixing will go that much quicker. He's been in contact with the Stanley Pokras Nonprofit Tecnology Resources program and has toured their facilities.
