What are Human Rights?

by

Human Rights are the rights you have simply because you are human

It’s how you instinctively expect and deserve to be treated as a person.

Llike the right to live freely, to speak your mind and to be treated as an equal.

There are many kinds of rights. But the Human Rights are the only ones that apply absolutely to everyone, everywhere. That means kids, poor people, old people, basketball players, garbage men, rappers, teachers, Africans, Indians, Christians, Muslims, your mom, your dad, your neighbor and You.

All have the exact same Human Rights. In other words: they are universal.

But the question remains: What are they?

According to the United Nations there are a total of 30 Human Rights which are usually called together simply Human Rights. They are all listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is the world’s most widely accepted document on the subject.

But there’s one little problem.

If people have the right to food and shelter why are 16 thousand children dying of starvation every day? One every 5 seconds?

If people have the right to education why over a billion adults are unable to read?

If slavery has truly been abolished why are 27 million people still in slavery today?

The fact id the Universal Declaration of Human Rights did not have the force of law. So although every member nations signed it was little more than words on a page.

As humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard stated, "Human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream".

So the question is: Who will make those words a reality?

The world needs leadership that works for all and not just for the few; that moves states from narrow self-interest to multilateral cooperation.

You can make a difference. Urge the world’s governments to fully implement the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Again, this is from the Scientologists

As I pointed out in the article below, please check very carefully into Scientologu before you place any trust in them.

And here is a link from a Libertarian...

You gotta watch out for them, too. The crazies are convening on the Open Newswire!

Read The Ethics of Liberty, by Murray Rothbard:
HTML website: http://mises.org/rothbard/ethics/ethics.asp
Audio Podcast: http://blog.mises.org/archives/006135.asp

Now, now, now

I believe I refrained from calling the Scientologists crazy or evil. I didn't and don't believe they are. Neither are the Libertarians. They're just not lefties, as most of those who post here are. I just want folks to be clear on the distinction.

Well...

...you did single them out for scrutiny. You did warn people about them.

First of all, "checking" into a group's background before placing "trust" in them does not confront any specific argument or claim of theirs on its merits.

If one looked into the background of Scientology and found that Scientologists believed in reincarnation, space aliens, and the like, that wouldn't necessarily refute all of their claims about human rights.

Second, everyone's specific arguments and claims should be subjected to scrutiny on their merits. Would you have written the same disclaimer after the claims of a Mumia supporter, or a Palestine supporter? Do you write that disclaimer after every post on the open newswire? You seem to write it after the posts of libertarians and Scientologists instinctively. What other groups would get the disclaimer, if they were to post here?

Raise specific objectitons

If you have a specific objection to something Antonella said, by all means raise it. But mere dismissal by application of directional label (i.e. "extreme right wing", "not lefties") does not advance the discussion.

Very well

UK Guardian - Church of Scientology goes
on trial
in France.  The Scientologists "stand accused of targeting vulnerable people for commercial gain." They also "face charges of illegally distributing pharmaceuticals."

In 1991, they
claimed
: "# The Church is a vital force in education.
Scientologists have taught some 1.5 million children in South Africa how to read and learn, based on the educational technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard." Quite a claim. Too bad the South African government couldn't document
this allegedly huge effort.

Statements from L. Ron Hubbard: "A truly Suppressive Person or group has no rights of any kind and actions taken against them are not punishable."  "The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them."  "If there will be a long-term threat, you are to immediately evaluate and originate a black PR campaign to destroy the person's repute and to discredit them so thoroughly that they will be ostracized."  "If we do the above as our pattern, we will successfully bring the following facts into public consciousness: 1. People who attack Scientology are criminals."

Does this really sound like an organization that's truly concerned about Human Rights?

This Is a Front Group for a Mind Control Cult

"Youth For Human Rights" is a front group for a mind control cult called Scientology. I was a member for over 20 years. Though Ms.Antonecchia probably means well, she has not done her research. If she had, she would know about the mind control techniques that her group uses on it followers. She would understand their predatory practices, and the false imprisonment, borderline human trafficking, and beatings that are occurring at the top of her church's management. I'm not saying that 100% of scientology is bad. Obviously it has something useful or people wouldn't be drawn to it. But its use is very limited in the real world, and its real purpose is not to save the earth from the evil galactic space-lord who enslaved it (as stated in the secret upper levels of scientology), its real purpose is to control every inch of its follower's lives, and make lots of money. It's mind control techniques are too lengthy to list here. But the result of their programming and indoctrination is an adolescent mind that blindly follows their totalitarian leader, agrees to have every aspect of their communication censored, questions nothing, and accepts pure fiction as fact on a daily basis. Scientology has many front groups, and YFHR is a new one for them. Human Rights is their latest hot button that gets people's attention and gets youth involved, like their Way To Happiness campaigns. But just like their WTH booklet, they do not practice the precepts within it, just like they violate the Human Rights of their members, while claiming to be Human Rights advocates.
