On January 20, 2009 guards in the Special Management Unit (SMU) at the State Correctional [sic] Institution (SCI) in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania assaulted six prisoners, reportedly citing as reasons that these men file grievances against guard misconduct and are engaged in civil litigation against DOC officials.
We are asking that you read the alert, become angry, and act accordingly to help protect the men in the SMU and by extension all others subjected to the normalized white supremacist torture occurring on a daily basis inside prisons in the state of Pennsylvania and throughout the U.S.

When it strikes/hits home,
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 06/01/2010 - 2:56pmWhen it strikes/hits home, you will! You need to keep in mind that everyone that has been/is incarcerated is not guilty of a crime. Some are there because police lied on them or a hater lied on them. Some sex offenders are in jail/prison on false charges. Many public defendars/paid attorneys are offering plea bargins tricking people into taking them because they don't want to do the leg work/paperwork it takes to prove cases. Thinking they will get out automatically in one to two years when it doesn't work that way. I know a man convicted of raping a woman. He spent 13 years in prison. When ferensic science became available in his 13th year, he appealed his case and science proved that without a doubt, he was innocent/not the raper. He was just awarded 4 million after getting out and suing the city. Just to prove, everyone isn't guilty.
Furthermore, just because people are guilty and are doing the time as you say, doesn't give guards the right to physically abuse any of them. They arrest people for that same "crime" If for some reason/misfortune you end up in one of those places, see if you "Give a shit"
Bit of a distinction

Prisoners
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 11:52amTwo sides to every story. When told to vacate a cell the PRISONER must comply. If they do not an extraction team will do so. Resist and they will be taken down by whatever force necessary for compliance. In my opinion, comments by the convicted criminals as to ALLEGED loud speaker comments and ALLEGED comments by the Correction Officers are taken as truth by the article posting group. Also, I don't see any outrage by the many left wing writers regarding the murder of another Phila. Police Officer last week.
As one respondant stated...can't do the time...don't do the crime.

very interesting to see a few of...
Submitted by HansBennett on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 2:04pm...the right-wing goons that frequent this site actually supporting this disturbing abuse of human rights. I think it gives HRC's alert more credibility.
very interesting
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 3:24pmthat you responded with your usual left wing rhetoric as you do on the Journalists for Mumia Abu Jamal site . As expected, you take the word of those who have an agenda and ONLY see ONE side and discount any information, especially FACTUAL information/evidence released by those who are in charge of facilities mentioned. Open your mind to the REAL WORLD Hans. Right wing goons...huh...you can do better than that H.B.
BTW, any comment as to the cold blooded murder of the Phila. Police Officer last week? I guess you would champion his killer as you do on J4M.

There was a piece in the NY Daily News
Submitted by Rich Gardner on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 3:44pmtoday about former VP Cheney being "outraged" that Lewis Libby was not granted a full pardon for having "outed" a CIA agent who was working on the issues of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Funny, but I wonder how right-wingers would feel about prison conditions if "Dear Leader" and his underlings were put into jail. I suspect they'd be all "We have to improve conditions!"
Interesting article, and good point
Submitted by HansBennett on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 4:04pmIt is shocking how openly the prison system is known for being abusive, including abuse from guards, as well as violence (including rape) between prisons that is usually sanctioned--if not promoted--by govt. authorities themselves, as a way to make prison conditions as horrific and torturous as possible. Supporters of this criminal injustice system will acknowledge these horrors and then say:
"can't do the time...don't do the crime"
Interesting
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 6:25pm"usually sanctioned...promoted"...come on Hans...I'm sure you have proof or did you take the word of the prisoners you champion. Phone privileges, Internet access for some, T.V. books,work-out equipment, counseling , yada yada yada. Horrific and torturous? The only tourture is isolation from family but they, prisoners, didn't think of family when they committed their crimes and I know that on a personal level.

NY daily rag
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 6:13pmas I stated before ...do the crime and are convicted...do the time...right wing...left wing or in between. My disgust is with THOSE who cry for the release of killers who's case has been appealed after appeal after appeal and the conviction of murder was affirmed...over and over again, right HANS. As to prisoner "boinking" I'm sure this happens and I also read a female Guard was involved with one of her charges. As one poster wrote..it's not a social club. Follow the rules, do what your supposed to do, end of story...fight and you will be challanged... period
response?
Submitted by jonpeppers (not verified) on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 6:31pmWell Hans or Rich ,how about a VALID response as to my postings?
No response worth making
Submitted by Rich Gardner on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 8:51pmYour comments that everything is hunky-dory in the prisons and that prisoners have nothing to complain about is obviously based on nothing more than wild, uninformed, ignorant guesses. If I had any interest in contesting your guesses, I'd do some serious research into the question. As I'm doing other things right now, I'd rather just leave the whole question alone. I trust that our readers are smart enough to distinguish someone talking out of his butt from someone who's actually well-informed.
ahhh..wild and uninformed/ognorant
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Fri, 02/20/2009 - 6:44pmguesses. Now your stretching it Rich. I believe it is YOU and your left wing "journalists" ala Hans who base their postings on wild and uninformed sources. Do YOU and HANS take the word of CONVICTED prisoners as to conditions within their complex? Why not YOU and HANS or those who posted this article (I'm sure they have been there) spend a few days in lock up..It probably can be arranged...but you have to act as a prisoner...you know...bang the bars..holler I want a veggie diet or I need a prayer rug,or I miss BUBBA. I've been to the prisons a few times..not as a guest...but they are ALL innocent...just ask Mumia Abu Jamal OR Hans Bennet or O'Connor, or the German linguists M.S...Hans's co-journalist
Do the crime..DO THE TIME..it's a prison NOT a social club but maybe the prisoners would be better off say in Columbia , Saudi Arabia or Lybia..."geez..what happened to my right hand..all I did was ROB someone."

What I see in your comment
Submitted by Rich Gardner on Fri, 02/20/2009 - 9:57pmis that you can't cite a single fact of any kind. Do some research, talk to some people, make an argument based on something other than insults and I'll be glad to engage in a discussion with you.
what I see is your comments
Submitted by jon peppers (not verified) on Tue, 03/03/2009 - 4:59pmare not facing reality. I stick by my last paragraph. The convicted prisoners here in the U.S. have it damn good compared to the countries I've mentioned
