Third Party Revolution Endorse Stewart Alexander for California Governor

by

Stewart Alexander says the most severe crisis California is facing is a leadership crisis; “After electing an actor for governor in 2003 and 2006, most Californians are reluctant to support the three choices representing the two big money parties. Republican frontrunner Meg Whitman has no political experience and Republican Steve Poizner sounds a lot like Schwarzenegger without the accent. Democrat Jerry Brown has not made his position clear on many of the major issues facing California voters.”

Governor Candidate Alexander: California Needs a Third Party Revolution

Governor Candidate Stewart Alexander has now received the endorsement of Third Party Revolution in his bid to become the next Governor of California.  In January, Stewart Alexander received the official endorsement of Socialist Party USA to run on the ticket of the Peace and Freedom Party as a candidate for governor.

Third Party Revolution is based in Florida where Stewart Alexander worked in 1986 as a political lobbyist with the Florida Consumer Action Network (F-CAN).  Since that time, Stewart Alexander was a Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles in 1989; in 2006 he was the PFP Candidate for California Lieutenant Governor and the 2008 Vice Presidential Candidate for Socialist Party USA.

Stewart Alexander is running for governor at a time when California is in a fiscal budget and political crisis and millions of Californians are losing faith in the Democrats and Republicans.  California presently has double digit unemployment; more than two million Californians are unemployed and millions more are under-employed.  The construction industry has fallen flat; the real estate market has gone from boom to bust and foreclosures are still at all time highs.

California is also facing a crisis in education.  Within the past decade, the cost of a college education has tripled; the legislators representing the two corporate parties are favoring the privatization of public schools, state colleges and universities.  Recently, the UC Board of Regents approved a 32 percent increase in tuition for UC students.  While the Democrats and Republicans are stressing their support for education, tens of thousands of teachers are in jeopardy of losing their jobs due to cut-backs that the Democrats, Republicans and their candidates say are necessary.  Peace and Freedom Party, Socialist Party USA and Third Party Revolution support higher education as a fundamental human right.

Stewart Alexander is presently running against two other PFP gubernatorial candidates seeking the PFP nomination.  The California Primary Election is June 8, 2010.

Error

Thank you very much for covering my endorsement of Stewart Alexander for Governor. But there is one error in the article, which is the mention of my group supporting higher education as a fundamental human right. My group endorses no social or fiscal issue or ideology. The only issue that my group supports is the opposition to the Democratic and Republican Party and the support for a parliamentary democracy where third parties and independents will be able to have a voice in government. In addition, Alexander is one of many third party and independent candidates for Governor of California that has been endorsed. The process is that TPR endorses multiple candidates in a single race and leaves the members of the group and nonmembers living in that region where the race takes place to make a choice from an excellent group of candidates. While Alexander does have the group's endorsement, the group doesn't place him as a favorite in this race, the same implies with other candidates being endorsed. Favorites only are made in three and two way races where there is a single third party and independent candidate running against the two party duopoly.
