social justice Stop The Machine Occupies Washington - by Stephen Lendman On October 6, thousands massed in Washington on the 10th anniversary of America's illegal Afghan war against a nonbelligerent country. Years ago it was lost. Nonetheless, it continues without end. The business of America is war, permanent wars, multiple ones. One nation after another is plundered for wealth and power while homeland needs go begging. US duopoly power spurns human and civil rights, rule of law principles, and democratic values. Long ago they were abandoned to advance Washington's imperium globally. Allied with America's military/industrial profiteers, Wall Street runs America. Political Washington serves them. Public needs are increasingly shut out.

Uhuru Solidarity Movement is the only organization in the world specifically created for Euro-Americans or white people who want to take a principled stand in solidarity with the African Liberation Movement. USM works directly under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party that leads the world-wide Uhuru Movement. “Resistance is the Future” is the title for this year’s National Convention because right now we are witnessing the just resistance of oppressed people throughout the world who are demanding their right to control their own land and resources. We can take a stand from the Euro-American or white community to support their right to resist!

Will peace break out at last? Much hope has been sparked by the coming resumption of peace talks between the National Democratic Front (NDF) and the Aquino government. Undoubtedly, this optimism stems from the widespread public perception that President Benigno Aquino III is genuinely interested in ending the four-decade-long war between the NDF and the Philippine government. Securing Good Faith Goodwill and good faith probably account for 75 per cent of successful negotiations. President Aquino’s goodwill gesture of ordering the release of the “Morong 43,” the health workers arbitrarily detained by the military on grounds of being suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA), will hopefully go a long way towards securing good faith in the negotiations from the National Democratic Front (NDF) and the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
