On President Aquino’s Open Governance Partnership (OGP)
ON 20 SEPTEMBER 2011 in New York, Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III will deliver the keynote address at the Open Government Partnership (OGP) forum dubbed “The Power of Open: A Global Discussion”. The conference brings together governments and representatives of civil society, industry, academe, and media. The panels will discuss the role of openness in improving government responsiveness and accountability, fighting corruption, and creating efficiencies, innovation and growth.
Later in the day, President Aquino will join high-level representatives of seven other countries (US, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, and UK) that along with the Philippines comprise the government members of the OGP steering committee. They will officially launch the OGP by signing a declaration of principles, and by submitting their respective country action plans for greater openness. They will also welcome a new group of 29 countries, as of the latest update, into the OGP fold.
The OGP is a multilateral initiative led by the US that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to scale up their current open government practices and norms to promote transparency, empower citizens, and fight corruption.

A legal education event organized by the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild.
On September 24, 2010, the FBI executed search warrants on the homes of, served grand jury subpoenas on, and “visited” anti-war and solidarity activists in several cities, including Chicago and Minneapolis, purportedly to investigate the alleged “material support” of Palestinian, Colombian, and other groups designated by the US as “terrorist” organizations.
Join NLG lawyers Andrew Erba and Jonathan Feinberg for a KYR training and discussion of how to exercise your rights in the face of governmental visits, search warrants, and subpoenas.

The U.S. Government’s attack on it’s citizens and the Bill of Rights.
Based on a true story of government censorship of musician Scott X by the banishment of X from every US courthouse with the threat of arrest FOR LIFE. Sonia Sotomayor had no problem with this and Sotomayor failed to report the conduct pursuant to judicial and attorney ethical cannons. She truly is one of the most pro-government civil servants and is more than willing to overlook her ethical obligations. See Music Video by Scott X:

City Council will have a hearing on whether or not Nutter can have "discretion" to determine "emergencies" that merit Martial Law....to ban rallies and assembly and so forth.
This is copy of the Bill that Nutter hopes to get passed by City Council on Wed Feb 4. Thanks to Hallwatch for making this accessible...though Hallwatch will be going-out-of-business in the near future. http://www.hallwatch.org/councilnotices/email/1225136934408/1225137061099/view
One question is...what is being planned, or what is expected, by the Nutters et al, that would prompt such authoritarian pre-emptive legislation? Should we move out of the city now? This is more of an Omen than a Bill.
