Something New – High School and College Students Protest the Pension “Reform” – Why?

Disturbing video from the Glenn Beck/Fox News-inspired teabagger demonstration in Washington DC on 9/12.

I just saw a reference to this video. It shows us a fellow who carried a big pro-health care reform sign through the Washington DC right-wing teabagger demonstration on Saturday. The fellow had a police escort and, naturally, as the crowd they were traveling through got more and more hostile, the escort was increased to several more police officers.
This bothers me because I can very easily see the shoe being on the other foot. I can very easily see an anti-abortionist carrying a doll dressed up as a bloody, dead fetus through a crowd of pro-choice people, a pro-military advenurism guy carrying an American flag through a crowd of anti-war people, etc.

A CALL FOR A GLOBAL MOBILIZATION
AGAINST THE G20 SUMMIT IN PITTSBURGH, PA., U.S.
SEPTEMBER 24 AND 25, 2009

ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE – BUT WE MUST FIGHT FOR IT!
BAIL OUT THE PEOPLE
JOBS & SOCIAL NEEDS--NOT WAR AND GREED

The third G20 summit is going to be in Pittsburgh, Pa., on September 24 and 25, 2009. The challenge before the movements for economic and social justice, as well as the antiwar movement, is that the next meeting of the powers that govern the world economy be met with a powerful mass mobilization demanding that jobs and social needs, and not war and greed, prevail--here in the U.S., and across the world.

Demonstration opposing John Yoo as Inquirer Columnist
"Keep John Yoo off the pages of the Inquirer. Terminate his contract immediately"
May 20 at 5:00 PM at Philadelphia Inquirer’s building at 400 North Broad Street in Philadelphia

Last Wednesday, we heard the unbelievable news that the Philadelphia Inquirer has hired John Yoo as a columnist. Yoo is the infamous author of the legal opinions that gave Bush legal cover to authorize torture.

Many people have taken action by writing to the Inquirer to say that torture apologists like Yoo have no place on the payroll of a daily newspaper.
