On Saturday April 2 at 11:45AM, Reverend Billy Talen and the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir joined with students and community members in exorcising Swarthmore's PNC Bank of a demon that has overstayed its welcome: the unsafe, unjust and unsustainable practice of Mountaintop Removal coal mining. The preach-in and exorcism sent a loud call to PNC Bank to divest completely from mountaintop removal coal mining.

Philadelphia, PA -- On Saturday April 2 at 11:45AM, Reverend Billy Talen and the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir joined with students and community members in exorcising PNC Bank of a demon that has overstayed its welcome: the unsafe, unjust and unsustainable practice of Mountaintop Removal coal mining. Reverend Billy and the Gospel Choir evangelized inside PNC Bank, while local residents and community members joined the rhythmic occupation and energetically sang along. Demonstrators held up messages of ‘Bank Like Appalachia Matters’ and ‘No More MTR’ underneath the PNC logo as rallying cries of ‘Save the Mountains!’ filled the room. The occupation lasted ten minutes, and no arrests were made.

Callout for an earth warrior cluster during the World Bank/International Monetary Fund Days of Dissent April 14-17 in Washington D.C.

I am issuing a callout for an earth warrior cluster to be active at the World Bank/International Monetary Fund Days of Dissent April 14-17 in Washington D.C.  Whereas there have been postings on the DC IMC lamenting the dwindling numbers at the WB/IMF spring protests since the huge turnout at A16 in 2000, I am advocating the largest turnout possible in these present times of global economic bankruptcy, the criminality which continues to keep world markets afloat, the wars necessary for volatility, and the muddle of government unable to accomplish anything worthwhile socially.

Whereas the DC IMC removed this posting, it's being placed on the Philly IMC. It needs to be published somewhere in the D.C. region! What the hell is the matter with whomever is "behind the curtain" at the DC IMC?

It is incomprehensible to me why the Washington D.C. IMC removed my posting, in which I state that west coasters are willing to come to D.C. early  to help with the organizing for the World Bank/International Monetary Fund spring protests.  I stated that it is essential that a convergence space be available in the D.C. area for the radical environmentalists, peace and justice activists, and everybody else who is fed up with living on a bankrupt, war ravaged planet in a spiritually pointless civilization.  I stated that I am willing to come to D.C. now and be involved.  This was posted by me in response to D.C. anarchists who lamented in their own postings on the D.C.

Poem of devotion to Kali, the dark warrior mother goddess of destruction, written by Sri Ramakrishna's disciple, Swami Vivekananda.

Kali the Mother

The stars are blotted out, the clouds are covering clouds.

It is darkness vibrant, sonant.

In the roaring, whirling wind are the souls of a million lunatics

Just loosed form the prison-house, wrenching trees by the roots, sweeping all from the path.

The sea has joined the fray, and swirls up mountain-waves to reach the pitchy sky.

The flash of lurid light reveals on every side a thousand, thousand shades of Death,

Begrimed and black--scattering plagues and sorrows, dancing mad with joy,

Come Mother, come!

For Terror is Thy name, Death is in Thy breath,

And every shaking step destroys a world for e'er.

Thou 'Time', the All-destroyer!

Come, O Mother, come!

Fourteen Philly residents — ranging in age from 24 to 72 and including several grandparents and two members of the clergy, public school teachers, and life-long Philadelphians — lined the entrance to the SugarHouse construction site on the Delaware River last fall and refused to move. They were promptly arrested and held for more than 12 hours.

On the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, these individuals will stand before a judge and defend their First Amendment rights.

Police watched as more than 100 people blocked a busy intersection at 6th and Market yesterday, near the Federal Building, to call attention to the nation's housing crisis. Speakers questioned national priorities, with President Obama sending 30,000 more soldiers to Afghanistan as thousands of Americans continue to be pushed into poverty and homelessness. The group, organized by Kensington Welfare Rights Union and the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, demanded a moratorium on evictions, and vowed massive nationwide civil disobedience at the end of January if Obama has not taken adequate steps to address the housing issue.
