Mayor Nutter recently held a series of townhall meetings announcing his intended budget cuts.  There was outcry from many sectors of our community calling for social justice, real economic development, and social services that every community has a right to demand from its elected officials.  Many people were opposed to the closing of 11 city libraries, the majority of which are in poor and oppressed black communities, where over half of the schools do not have libraries or even textbooks for the students!

The International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement called for an end to the allocation of 35% of the city’s budget -- $1.1 billion -- for public safety. This is a war budget!  Nutter is using the people’s resources for heavy-handed policing; funding gentrification and Center City development; anti-democratic, anti-black Stop and Frisk policies, and a massive court and prison system.  Young, mostly black men from Philly
make up 40% of the whole PA prison population.   African people are being used to fuel a prison economy bringing jobs and resources to the white community and nothing but poverty and misery to the black community.

The African community must get organized in our own interests.  Change is inevitable.  The question is what “change” will benefit us?  Nutter doesn’t represent change for black people.  We need a program for REAL CHANGE!

  2. Justice for the Families: immediate arrest and imprisonment of police who have murdered African people.
  3. Community controlled investigation review board with power to hire and fire City staff and administration, as well as subpoena power.

WHAT?

As to your #1 proposal...don't think so

As to your #2 proposal...how bout Justice for the families of those murdered by people in YOUR own community...not the Police. Also how about Justice for the families of those Police Officers who were murdered by "African people". A killer is a killer no matter what color

#3- another joke...just like the Million Man March
