The Rallying Cry for Immigrant Rights

Immigrants and supporters across the country have been mobilized by the anti-immigrant HR 4437. The bill threatens to criminalize those assisting undocumented immigrants as "alien smugglers" and to turn undocumented status from a civil violation to a federal aggravated felony.

Millions have turned out nationwide in series of demonstrations aimed at bringing light to the plight of the 14 million undocumented.

Anti-Immigrant Legislation:

The Sensenbrenner-King (HR 4437) threatens to criminalize those assisting undocumented immigrants as "alien smugglers" and to turn undocumented status from a civil violation to a federal aggravated felony.

While more promising legislation was introduced to the senate floor, Senators failed to reach a comprimise. It does not appear likely that new immigrant legislation will be passed this year.
