Red Baiting in Local Politics and Casinos ruining relationships with usually Progressive Politicians

Everyone in Philadelphia, let’s unite to stop the progressive community from tearing itself to pieces risking a conservative local sweep in the May 19, local elections. Seth Williams was a meticulous assistant DA and is too moderate to deserve red-baiting. And let’s stop the FOP from successfully blacklisting and removing Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Craig Washington from office,

A dark clowd getting in the way of local exthusiasum over candidates endorsed by Mayor Nutter, is the casino issue, because he caved into the gambling interests.
The only clear point in favor of the casinos locally is the desire to get the cash Atlantic City got when it destroyed the local Atlantic City community with gambling. Governor Rendell originally begged the casinos to be willing to set up a casino at the airport. But the casino industry instead held out to be able to destroy the neighborhoods. Even snuck in a 10 mile from Chester limit to prevent a casino at the airport or former navy yard away from the neighborhoods when the Chester casino was set up. If we would demand that that law is changed we could set up a city run casino at the airport, if no casino company is willing.
Why would anyone want to ruin the historic charm of Independence Mall, with drunkard, flush with casino cash, visitors whooping it up in horse drawn carriages and in charming historic restaurants, urinating on the grass etc, an insult to America.
If the people living near the airport engage in civil disobedience to stop it, perhaps only gambling boats on the river with a minimum $100 fee to get on the boat, but the $50 spendable for food and $50 for future restaurant expense. Our social service agencies are already overwhelmed. Let’s not overwhelm them more with destitute gamblers and their relatives. There are ways to get the money Atlantic City is getting without destroying our local community the way Atlantic City did.
PS, while we worry about our local community, Dick Cheney is hoping for a eventual Republican sweep where the candidates openly brag about torture and wrong doing supposedly keeping the country safe, where Rush Limbaugh hopes to include immigrant bashing. Remember Hitler bragged about wanting to do wrong in Mein Kampf, before he ended up in charge.
Let’s restore the progressive community locally and nationally while there is still time to do so, without torture or local gambling getting in the way.

The FOP, the police union wants to get Judge Craig Washington removed from the bench in the May 19 local election supposedly because he refused to illegally post a picture of a dead policeman in front of his courtroom. If they don't require this of other judges they must be attempting to put fear, of them, in the minds of judges in general,

Seth Williams who was once an assistant DA, won praise for his very careful prosecutions. He started out as a radical college student protesting apartheid, but the only thing now particularly progressive about him is his call for neighborhood DA's and sympathetic comments about civil disobedience. However he was known for careful prosecutions where defendants never won just because he forget to show up, or he forget to file something, which is all to frequent in the present court system. The assistants Seth hired were also especially competent,

However McCaffery has a red baiting TV ad claiming that a murderer is only serving one year because of Seith, and portray’s Lynne Abraham’s comments back when she was running against Seth for DA
I remember back in the old days when Mayor Rizzo tried to get someone I knew Judge Lisa Richette recalled, but her supporters surprised everyone by showing up election day.
On the national scene, Dick Cheney claiming that torture and the government’s ability to keep secrets keep us safe, may make a different world the next time a conservative wins the Presidency. Local politics getting conservative could hasten the day national politics follows suit.
The only thing relating to the casino issue is the way the city needs revenue, and progressives instead of fighting this fact should look for ways that rich people can give Philly gambling revenue without destitute gamblers and their relatives crowding out the needs of other poor people, and if people ignore Mayor Nutter’s recommendations due to the gambling issue, more conservative judges and politicians will win.
