Questions we should insist Hillary answer before she quits as Senator, to run for a new office

Conservative and moderate insiders are pushing for their favorite cabinet choice. Progressive activists like George Soros are not lobbying for a progressive cabinet. Only Hispanics are lobbying for Bill Richardson to be Secretary of State. If the peace movement and libertarians would join them it would be a powerful force. Rabbi Learner's Jewish peace sight and Peace Action are urging their members to email the trasition team to complain about Gates.
But Hillary is thinking of quitting her senate seat only because she expects to run US foreign polcy, not do things Obama's way, like Gates will attempt to do. Foreign Policy in Focus has good things to say about Gates, so there is no unanimous agreement that he keeping his job for a while it will be a disaster,

QUESTION 1. Hillary please tell us how the fact that you differ with Obama on certain policy affect how you perform at the Department of State. During the debates both you and McCain argued in favor of aid to the death-squad government in Columbia and against human rights earmarks in future trade laws. Will you willing go along with Obama’s trade and Colombian policy?
QUESTION 2. President Bush and Condoleezza Rice humbled themselves before Arab Monarchs, especially the King of Jordan. Madeleine Albright always wore a head scarf while visiting Arab lands. Do you think your role as top diplomat is to hold your head high and let the world know, that America doesn’t cow down to backward customs?
QUESTION 3. How angry will you be at President Obama for destroying your life if you don’t last four years, or if the head of the State Department becomes a very limited position?
Obama wants to work for human rights around the world, but at the same time worries about the US getting in over its head. QUESTION 4. How willing are you, like with Bill Richardson, to caution against sending US troops back to Somalia, if they are again dragged though the street and the US people feel we are obligated to stay until the culprits are punished? The American economy is in danger of total collapse with the dollar becoming just junk currency. Incredibly expensive smart weapons could make US history resemble Ancient Rome’s collapse, rather than the US, as with England, slowly retiring in the sunset.
I admire the way Hillary gave up a lucrative legal career to become a child advocate, earlier the way as a law student she struggled for fair trials. And her noble response to her husband’s personal transgressions. I saw merit in her policy of exposing the domestic right-wing. But if we end up with Hillary’s foreign policy, and Obama’s domestic policy, of just trying to make no one feel unhappy and left out, it would in my mind be bad news indeed.
Libertarians want Richardson’s cautionary foreign policy, so do peace idealists and leftists. The Hispanic lobby as well. Hispanics are keenly aware of US policy toward the drug dealer government of Columbia.
There is a lot of intense lobbying going on. At first, the establishment pushed Hallbright as Secretary of State, when that fell though, Hillary volunteered to take over trying the straighten up Obama’s Latin American policy, and insure his other foreign policy remain in a traditional direction. There is chance of her ended up angry that she gave up her senate seat without accomplishing her goals.
Peace idealists, libertarians, leftists and Hispanics and sober Americans everywhere, let’s make Obama a great President, despite his desire to almost always head for the middle ground.
And all Americans, let’s demand that no Senator or Representative quit serving in their job until confirmed in another one. Supporters and opponents of both Obama and Hillary should unite in the demand that no one quit their Congressional position until they are confirmed in another one.
Some think the more they cheer Obama the easier his job will be. Jeremy Scahill at the Alternet condemning the tentative appointments instead of lobbying for better one, like the lobbyists for established interests are doing. Where is George Soros now that we need him?

Richard Kane's father was Jewish and conscientiously opposed to fighting in World War II. His mother helped to integrate Woolworth lunch counters, and was active in her church. During the Korean War peace activists were assumed to be libertarians and isolationists, during Vietnam Leftists and liberals, and the latest peace movement is an arguement between Leftists and libertarians. When all factions pull together change can occur. Every activist likes Bill Richardson for the Department of State for different reasons a potentially powerful force.
