West Chester Area School District Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools

Press Release
West Chester Area School District Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools
On May 24th, 2010, the WCASD Students Against Budget Cuts and Partisanship In Schools will drop banners in protest against the anti-student, anti-education, and anti-teacher policies proposed by the West Chester Area School District’s School Board. The banner drops will take place at Henderson, East and Rustin High Schools. After school that same day, members of the group and other students will attend the school board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Spellman Building to speak out against these policies. This school board meeting is the one in which the budget is set to be voted on.  We are also protesting the membership of John Wingerter on the board, a man who co-founded PA Leadership Charter School, which receives funding from the District, and thus presents a large conflict of interest, especially around budget cutting. He still sits on the PALCS board in an advisory position, and he sat in a prominent position up until his election.
