Persuasive letter on Mumia, from a not previous expressed angel.

by

A letter in the Metro on April 14, on page 14, was quit different from the usual pro Mumia piece.

Excerpt
“...Mumia is involved in the most disputed hole-ridden cases in US history, the writer thought it a plus that the judicial system wouldn’t be doing its job.  Funny how despite the fact that there have been over 300 death penalty inmates exonerated in the US, this brief article – clearly written by someone with little or no knowledge of the case makes Mumia’s possible innocence seem like outlandish improbability”.

Spreading a little doubt among stanch capitol punishment supporters like Paolo Giampietro did was never one of Mumia supporters goals.

Whether a cause is gun rights and gun violence, or choice and abortion, some material tries to put a little doubt in those who disagree, get new people involved or rally the faithful. Creating doubt in those who disagree, was never part of the pro-Mumia movement.

I never called myself a radical or revolutionary, and got involved with Mumia due to my personal association with him. Back at Community Underground Paper, Mumia elated the whole volunteer staff by coming to help.  If someone writes for justice for Mumia they usually aren’t into electoral politics, the environment, or any non-repression issues, so this letter gave me a more, I belong feeling

Palio used broad words like corruption, not directly relating Mumia’s plight, so perhaps it was shortened from a voices submission, or perhaps he wanted to expand the subject.  I too want to expand the subject. Attorney General Eric Holder might call a grand jury to investigate, for possible trial, the prosecutors that hid and destroyed evidence in the false conviction of Former Senator Stevens. It’s hard for most Mumia supports to get excited about Stevens, but his could remake the map if applied to past criminal cases.  Steven’s was a king of pork, but started out as a desperately poor child.  His mother had to send him to relative to prevent him from starving and later he supported his sick father and helpless brother on his newsboy earning.

I like the way Palio used the work corruption, as if financial corruption to earn or preserve one’s financial livelihood, and police coverup to preserve their personal and department’s image, and prosecutors twisting even making up evidence to get a quick conviction is the same thing, though it is possible that this was intended for the daily voices column and included further explanation.

Stevens was a king of pork, but started out as a desperately poor child. Later in his youth, supporting his sick father and helpless brother on his newsboy salary.

Other details that might expand joint interest beyond Leonard Peatier, Steven’s voted for setting and end date for war funding only once, but why is he along with John Warner and four other Republicans who did. no longer in office.  Were they secretly harassed out of office by the Military-Industrial-complex.

I want to expand the subject even further.  Remember when in 2006, it looked like the war funding would have end date relating to sudden new dove. Rep John Murtha who was about to become the Majority Whip. Instead, the Internet became upset with the claim that Murtha was supposedly an unindicted co-conspirator because he kept telling a phony Arab Sheik “maybe”, instead of assuming he was trying to get money for his constituents in a legal manner, from someone who didn’t know American rules and thus didn’t want to offend the sheik with an in his face rejection.

Rod Blagojevich of Illinois liked to sell, such things as Senate seats to the highest bidder, and doing so for a long time.  But why the sudden rush to prosecute him just before he might have sold a Senate seat with money from a lobbyist with Arab credentials.

How come at the very moment then Governor Eliot Spitzer was going after banking, investment fraud he was exposed for seeing a prostitute.  Thus the banking crisis in this country ended up far worse than if the then NY Governor had continued his pursuit of white collar crime?

The ACLU generic handling of repression is something the rest of up should appreciate. I hope others join us in promoting overlap.

I have some unpleasant news that for several years was trying to get Mumia supporters to digest.  Since two of the jurors were black its hard for ordinary people to be upset with the racism in the trial.

Mumia at Community newspaper, a couple of times mentioned that the police were harassing and hounding him for his anti police oppression work. He did it casually as if it was par for the course.  I knew from the way Mumia reacted that he never pulled the trigger on his gun the night Officer Faukner was assassinated For me it was clear that he was innocent of, in any way, being involved with a murder after he lathed himself onto on Arnold Beverly’s vague confession of guilt as if Mumia finally had an idea of what happened.  This was when Cuba heavily supported Mumia, perhaps offering Mumia tidbits of what he once said was a conspiracy to kill a cop in order to silence his advocacy. Mumia since than saw as having other factors involved, than a police officers life sacrfied in order to have an excuse to shut down Mumia’s anti-repression work.

I have some unpleasant news that for several years I have been trying to get Mumia supporters to digest.  Since two of the jurors were black it’s hard for ordinary people to be upset with the racism in the trial.  There are plenty of things like Mumia’s insightful writings to try to get new people interested in the Mumia issue, and that fraud and corruption not seen as separate issues. Lately, supporters are organizing around April 24, his birthday and the announced day of the presentation of his new book, again demanding his release,

It would make more sense to demand the very frail native American Indian leader Leonard Peltier who was part of the last conflict between natives and the US, finally making cowboy and Indian sequels. history.
http://www.freepeltiernow.org/welcome.htm  Ideally Mumia would urge the releases of Pelter before himself.  Obama I think may follow President Carter’s example with releasing a number of prisoners during his last weeks in office.  It would be more likely if the release of Peltier set a precedent for Obama granting pardons,

Some tribal leaders are only partitioning that Peltier be transferred out of maximum security and a prison close to home,

Again I want to express by appreciation for Paolo Giampietro adding a touch of professionalism to the Mumia cause and hope someone besides me will see that there is something about sloppy and shortcut arrests and convictions and the sloppy policy that created the current economic crisis.
