Newtown, PA, October 2, 2009 – If you watch Oprah regularly, you’ve probably heard of the Pajama Program. The not-for-profit organization provides new, warm pajamas and books to children in need – many who are waiting to be adopted. The local Pajama Program is currently seeking donations for children in Bucks County and has partnered with several local businesses to offer convenient drop-off donation boxes.

One of the collection partners, LearningRx Newtown, is “sweetening the pot” with an incentive to encourage donations: FREE dyslexia screenings on Saturday, October 3.

“We love the Pajama Program not only for the items it provides to children, but also for what it does to help children develop a love for reading,” says Donna Lanctot, Director of LearningRx Newtown. “By offering free dyslexia screenings at our new center, we can help parents identify obstacles that prevent reading fluency.”

To receive a free dyslexia screening, bring a new book or pair of children’s pajamas to LearningRx Newtown, 126 S. State St., October 3 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

About LearningRx

LearningRx specializes in identifying and correcting the underlying cognitive skill deficiencies that keep people from achieving their full potential in school, business or life. The program was pioneered by Dr. Ken Gibson and refined over a decade of research and testing. Using a comprehensive skills assessment test and intensive one-on-one training, certified trainers quickly and effectively enhance weak cognitive skills such as attention, memory, processing speed, and problem solving. Students completing the program usually see three to four years of improvement in as little as 12 to 24 weeks and benefit from improved confidence, self-esteem and overall achievement.
