I asked Ms. Cummings to address the issue of Mural Arts' community outreach process. As outlined by the Mural Arts staff, community outreach typically extends for only a two block radius of the mural itself. There were varying views aired at the meeting about whose responsibility it was create this dialogue early in the process. Some felt that residents should be more proactive. Others, like Ms. Cummings felt that the Mural Arts Program needs to fully engage residents.
