The story of the 1972 Civil Rights March in Derry, Northern Ireland
An estimated 15-20,000 people marched on Sunday, January 30, 1972 in Derry, Northern Ireland for their civil rights, and against the imprisonment of those struggling against British occupation.
When the demonstration was attacked by soldiers of the British Army, 14 marchers were killed, and the day became known throughout the world as "Bloody Sunday."
