Alberto Gonzalez to Speak at Penn

A student group at Upenn law is having Gonzalez as their speaker at the law school, tomorrow evening (7:30). While local activists are scrambling to get demos etc together, the law students decided to do something different. They will have a simultaneous event. Mary Catherine Roper of the (ACLU) will serve as moderator and will speak on the seven deadliest sins of the Bush Justice Department. Peter Ryan of Dechert, LLP, counsel for several detainees at Guantanamo, bio at http://www.dechert.com/lawyers Judith Chomsky, Human Rights Advocate and Center for Constitutional Rights Cooperating Attorney, speaking about her litigation on behalf of Abu Ghraib detainees and also the US's violation of the UN Convention Against Torture. Ryan Hancock, Assistant Chief Counsel, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, speaking about the "Torture memos" and US policy.
