A really poor recording of a really interesting panel. Sadly this panel was scheduled with another session(!) taking place simultaneously in the same room, so there's quite a bit of background noise.

Nevertheless, given the often voiced criticism that opponents of biotech are science-fearing idiots, and the ignorance on the part of some people opposed to biotech on social and economic grounds of the very real scientific issues with the technology(a word i might actually have to put in quotes when talking about biotech after hearing this panel!), I thought I'd go ahead and post it anyway, as it is a really accessible and very up-to-date critique of the state of biotechnology from a scientific perspective.

So the next time someone starts giving you shit about how you're just ignorant about the science involved and how biotech is going to save the world, you can shoot something back at them about the dangers of scrambled flanking sequences or bioballistic unpredictability and make them feel like the real idiot!

(btw this is the last panel discussion I managed to record....if anyone has any audio/video from the other sessions, or knows someone who does, please post it! Especially some of the stuff from the green and black urban gathering...)
