Attorneys for the Ft Dix 5 will be making oral arguments in the legal appeal against the convictions of the Ft Dix 5 on Monday, May 23rd at the Federal Building (6th & Market Sts) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The court hearing begins at 1:30pm.

Prior to the hearing, supporters of the 5 men will be rallying outside the courthouse between 10AM and 1PM. Family members, friends and others concerned about the right to a fair trial believe these five innocent men were convicted in 2008 because of the prosecution's repeated efforts to sow fear and hostility towards Islam within the jury.

Such Islamophobia in society leads to discrimination against Muslims, exclusion of Muslims from mainstream political or social process, stereotyping, hate crimes, and especially in this case, the presumption of guilt by association.

These victims of prosecutoral persecution received astounding sentences of up to life in prison plus 30 years, for acts that never took place and for which no one was ever injured or killed.

The U.S. government must stop its discriminatory targeting of Muslim communities in counter-terrorism investigations, said the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) at NYU School of Law today, May 18, 2011, as it released a report on the issue. The government’s use of intrusive surveillance, untrained paid informants, and manufactured terrorism plots raise serious human rights concerns that must immediately be addressed, said the group.
