Public speaking is a timeless tool for social change. Emma Goldman, Dr. King, Gandhi, Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Hugo Chavez, and Subcomandante Marcos are all great speakers. That’s the purpose of this workshop—to help activists, organizers, and radicals improve their public speaking skills. Many different facets will be explored, but the workshop will center on three particular areas: organizing your message, adapting to your audience, and developing your delivery skills. No prior experience is needed, but participants are encouraged to come in with their own questions and areas for improvement.
The workshop will be facilitated by Jason Del Gandio, a professor of Public Communication at Temple University and author of the book "Rhetoric for Radicals: A Handbook for 21st Century Activists" (www.jasondelgandio.com).
