Friday, June 5, Screening of "I Cannot Be Silent: Testimonies of Peacemaking", which documents inter-generational dialogues on peace with elder peace advocates sharing their adventures in peacemaking and their timely and timeless wisdom with young people.  Their inspiring stories address historical and current violence: escape from slavery, opposition to war, childhood escape from a Nazi concentration camp; and opposition to urban violence.

The film, by Philadelphia film maker Vic Compher, features such elder peace activists as Quaker legends, George Willoughby and Lilllian Willoughby (recently deceased); Dorothy Johnson-Speight, co-founder of Mothers in Charge, an anti-violence neighborhood project in Philadelphia; and Dr. Henry Parens, renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor.

Opening film short: "Generation Gap", made by University of the Arts students, contrasts younger and older people's views on the importance and role of activism and features long-time activists of the Brandywine Peace Community.
