Sunday, June 14 - Meet...Greet...Hear...Father Louie Vitale, Jailed Peace Activist, International Traveler for Peace Just Back from Iran, at the Brandywine Peace Community Monthly Potluck Supper & Program, 4:30p.m., University Lutheran Church, 3637 Chestnut St. (corner of 37th & Chestnut Streets) in University City section of Philadelphia.  4:30p.m., Potluck Supper (bring main dish, salad, or dessert to share; 5:30p.m., Father Louie Vitale, with PowerPoint presentation.

Father Louie Vitale is a Franciscan priest (ordained 1963, Ph.D in Sociology), long-time peace activist and war resister jailed for arrests at the School of the Americas and elsewhere, co-founder of the Nevada Desert Experience, a faith-based anti-nuclear organization, and the Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service.

A retired Air Force officer and Korean War veteran, Father Vitale has participated in human rights and peace delegations to El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Jordan, Lebanon, and has recently returned from Iran as part of a Civilian Diplomacy Delegation.

Father Vitale is currently on a tour of the United States and Canada speaking about his lifelong journey and work for justice and peace, the current unmanned drones bombing campaign in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the need to undertake nonviolent resistance to the U.S. policy of war and militarism around the world.  Father Vitale is also the pastor of a Roman Catholic church that serves an impoverished neighborhood in San Francisco.

The Brandywine Peace Community (est. 1977) Monthly Potluck Supper and Program is held the 2nd Sunday of the month (except for August), 4:30p.m., at University Luthean Church, 3637 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.
