On April 10, the Brandywine Peace Community will on hold its annual Good Friday Stations of Justice & Peace at Lockheed Martin in Valley Forge/King of Prussia, PA (behind the King of Prussia Mall). The noontime Good Friday demonstration will include nonviolent civil disobedience, a recurring part of the Brandywine Peace Community ongoing campaign of nonviolent resistance to Lockheed Martin, the world's largest weapons corporations.
The Good Friday Stations of Justice & Peace are fashioned after the Stations of the Cross and parallel the last steps and crucifixion death of Jesus Christ with the human, social, and environmental consequences of the U.S. policy of war, the war economy, and Lockheed Martin's multi-billion dollar weapons industry. The readings will also convey the hopes and possibilities realized in the continuing struggle for justice and peace. After each station and reading, a large wooden cross, with the Lockheed Martin logo at the crucifixion nail points, will be placed in front of the Valley Forge weapons complex representing the casualties of war and the war economy.
Those interested in the civil disobedience need to call the Brandywine Peace Community by March 30 to find out the date, time, and place of the planning and preparation meeting
Lockheed Martin is the world's largest weapons producing corporations, the U.S.'s #1 arms seller and producer of both nuclear and space weaponry. Lockheed Martin is also the Iraq war's chief weapons profiteer. The Brandywine Peace Community's ongoing campaign of nonviolent resistance to Lockheed Martin is one of the longest running campaigns of its sort around the world.
On April 23, Lockheed Martin will hold its annual shareholders meeting in Philadelphia and the Brandywine Peace Community will be present in protest to the arms giant and the economy of war, which the group calls the "elephant in the room" of the current economic meltdown.
