Gasland
When filmmaker Josh Fox discovers that Natural Gas drilling is coming to his area – the Catskills/Poconos region of upstate New York and Pennsylvania - he sets off on a 24 state journey to uncover the deep consequences of the natural gas drilling boom.
Fox finds water that can be lit on fire right out of the sink; chronically ill residents of drilling areas in disparate locations across the U.S. with the same mysterious symptoms; huge pools of toxic waste that kill cattle and vegetation; well blowouts, and huge gas explosions consistently covered up by state and federal regulatory agencies. 2010; 107 minutes
Is the process of hydraulic fracturing to extract natural gas from shale regions a threat to our drinking water?
See the film and stay for discussion about what this means for the Philadelphia area and what you can do about it.
