Fur Free Friday and Stop Staples Shopping Day (Friday, November 28, 2008)

Fur Free Friday:

This Friday, November 28, 2008, the day after Thankstaking Day is the
largest shopping day of the year in the United States. Millions of dollars
will flow in and out of this capitalist system. Sweatshops, blood
diamonds, toxic toys and oh yes animal abuse will all be bought. Or at
least attempted to be bought. This Friday, November 28th set your calendar
and get ready to take action in defense of all life and to be a clog to
the flow of capital on buy nothing day. This Friday, November 28th take
part in Fur Free Friday and Stop Staples Shopping Day.

Autumn is here, and “fashionists” everywhere are buying, selling, or
writing about fall wardrobes. Don’t forget an essential day in the fall
“fashion season” - Fur Free Friday! Fur Free Friday is an anti-fur event
which is always held on the Friday after Thankstaking (formally known as
Thanksgiving), which is the United States busiest shopping day before
Christmas.

Each year over 50 million animals are murdered for fashion by the fur
industry. Around the world that number is even higher. The majority of the
animals spend their entire lives on fur farms where every natural instinct
is denied to them. Animals on fur farms often show tell tale signs of
insanity such as nervous pacing, self-mutilation and cannibalism. In the
end, these animals die a painful death at the hands of the fur farmer.

For the millions of animals that are trapped in the wild, the fate is no
better. Often animals caught in traps attempt to chew off their own leg to
escape, some bleed to death before the trapper arrives and others succumb
to predators. Not to mention, cats, dogs and other "non-target" animals
are often caught in these traps as well. Unwanted, these animals are
thrown away or let free with fatal injuries. For the animals that do
survive until the trapper arrives, death is inevitability.

Animals are killed for their fur using such methods as gassing, trapping,
anal or vaginal electrocution, neck breaking, stomping, clubbing or
drowning. To make one fur coat the following number of animals suffer and
die:
12-15 lynx
10-15 wolves or coyotes
15-20 foxes
60-80 minks
27-30 raccoons
10-12 beavers
60-100 squirrels

Take action in a town near you. Take action on a global buy nothing day.
Strike at the money that capitalism feeds on. Strike at the abuse the
speciesism lives on.

Stop Staples Shopping Day:

Staples has been caught delivering supplies to Huntingdon Life Sciences
(HLS) in a disguised vehicle. What do they have to hide? Perhaps they
don?t want others to know that they supply the bloody butchers and animal
abusers at Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS).

Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is a company whose primary business is
death and suffering. They kill 500 animals every day for product testing -
not for medical progress and not because they are seeking to find a cure
for human diseases. They murder these little creatures for things like
toothpaste and tanning lotion and food additives like Splenda and caramel
coloring. They have been implicated in six undercover investigations for
scientific fraud, gross incompetence and vicious animal abuse.

A global campaign to shut down HLS for good has seen many hundreds of
companies, ditch HLS. Despite this, Staples continues to deliver them
office supplies. Actions in Britain and the U.S. have sent a loud and
clear message to Staples that activists will stop at nothing to steer
companies away from HLS and drive them out of business.

Tell Staples to drop HLS in the US: 1-800-3STAPLE (1-800-378-2753)

No justice. Just us.

Find a Staples near you and take action to turn all those potential
shoppers away from Staples. Staples has been warned before. Staples has
been demonstrated against countless times. Now let's strike at Staples
where it hurts them most... their profits. As the global anti-HLS campaign
has told Staples around the world before... HLS needs Staples but Staples
does not need HLS and does not need us.

Be young! Have fun! Smash HLS! Stop Staples Shopping Day!
