Calling for the white community to
defend the democratic rights of the
African community in Philly!

Attend the rallies:
"FREE DIOP - Stop the War on the Black Community!" featuring Diop's & 3 other cases of Africans Resisting Police Brutality

Support the demands for economic development for the black community, not police containment. Africans have the right to organize for real change!

MON, AUG 16 • 7-9pm
Uhuru Solidarity Center, 3733 Lancaster Ave • W. Phila

MON, AUG 23 • 4-7pm
Black & Noble, Broad & Erie (in the heart of North Philly)

Both Events Featuring the Following Cases of African Resistance:

Diop OlugbalaDiop, as a leader of the African community here in Philadelphia, was attacked and arrested in City Hall for defending the democratic rights of the black community.

The attack on Diop represents an attack on the entire African community – especially the youth. Right now in Philly and around the country Africans are suffering more and more attacks by the police. The struggle to free Diop is part of the struggle to defend the rights of Africans to resist.

On Monday, August 23rd (the day before Diop’s trial) InPDUM will be holding a rally in North Philly (Broad & Erie). The rally will feature not only Diop’s case, but 3 other cases of Africans being accused of brutality when it was the police who attacked them!

Melissa Hurling was attacked by the police in her West Philly neighborhood after she came to the defense of some brothers who were being harassed by the police. She is a strong example of an African woman who is not afraid to stand up for the rights of the entire African community.

Top Dollar: Leader of the well known Philly youth organization the “Dollar Boyz”, Top Dollar was attacked by the SEPTA police at the Broad & Cecil B Moore subway station while he was taking a group of his young members home from a dance performance. Top defended himself from the police brutality. He is now facing criminal charges.

15 year old Darryl Anderson was attacked by a cop while he was walking home in West Philly. The same cop not only attacked Darryl but spit on a woman who tried to come in Darryl’s defense. Darryl is facing charges of aggravated assault on the cop even though the cop attacked him!

Attend Diop's Trial

TUES AUG 24
8am DEMO, 9am TRIAL
Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center (13th & Filbert)

On March 19, 2009 Diop Olugbala, leader of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, was attacked and arrested by police during a City Council meeting for holding up a sign that called for Africans to resist the war that the City of Philadelphia wages against the African community (shown in top picture). This war includes a $1.1 billion budget that Mayor Michael Nutter spends on police, prisons and courts that attack the African community. Diop now faces charges of aggravated assault on police even though the police attacked him!

Before organizing in Philly Olugbala received worldwide media coverage when he publicly challenged then-candidate Barack Obama during a campaign event in St. Petersburg, FL in 2008. Olugbala demanded to know why Obama would not denounce police violence and economic exploitation in African communities of the U.S., raising a banner and leading a chant, “what about the black community, Obama?” (shown in bottom picture)

The U.S. government wants Diop off the streets because he is leading the struggles to expose white power in black face. The people need Diop on the streets for the same reason! Come to Diop’s trial and take a stand on the right side of justice.

Call Judge Roxanne Covington & DA Seth Williams Every Monday:

1. Call judge Roxanne Covington at 215-683-7142 every Monday with the following demand: "I am calling to oppose the City of Philadelphia’s efforts to convict Diop Olugbala, also known as Wali Rahman, with the trumped up felony charge of aggravated assault on police. His arrest represents an attack on the rights of African people to free speech and economic development. I stand with the demand for the immediate dropping of all charges against Wali Rahman and Franklin Moses."

2. Call district attorney Seth Williams at 215-686-8000 and demand all charges against Wali Rahman.
