On April 20, 2010, British Petroleum's (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, killing eleven crew members and causing the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history. Beyond an oil spill in which cleanup efforts attempt to minimize destruction, this catastrophe has no clear end in sight as millions of barrels of oil continue to be released into the Gulf of Mexico nearly two months after the explosion.

This event will provide a public space for discussion about what has happened and what we can do to take action. Members of the Wooden Shoe events committee will facillitate the conversation and supply resources about the disaster in the Gulf and where to go from here.
