a bit of analysis on palestine
Submitted by sevil_dear (not verified) on Thu, 01/22/2009 - 12:31pma bit of analysis on palestine
anyone who belives that it is the israeli, or even jewish, dog that wags the american tail has an analysis that is incorrect, and incorrect analyses make for incorrect targets when
developing strategies and tactics in the u.s. to support the palestinian national movement.
although there is an acknowledgement that there are a number of american and european jews in positions of power in the media, finance, entertainment, multi-national corporations,
etc., american and european jews do not "rule the world." the world is ruled by the imperialist countries, led by U.S. imperialism, and the monopoly capitalists in the u.s. and these
other countries.
therefore, the main contradiction in the world is between u.s. imperialism and the oppressed nationalities of the world. and more specifically, the main contradiction in the
palestinian-israeli conflict is between u.s. imperialism (and its proxy state, israel) and the palestinian national liberation movement.
israel is a colonial-settler state. it exists only thanks to the ongoing support of imperialist powers, at this time the u.s. its purpose is to provide "an outpost against asia...the
vanguard of the civilized world against barbarism" (Theodor Herzl, the founder of the zionist movement). today it does that by acting as a proxy for u.s. imperialism as a "stabilizing
force" in the region. this is why israel has the 4th most powerful military in the world and is the number one recipient of u.s. aid. it maintains illegal settlements in jerusalem, the gaza
strip, and the west bank as advanced outposts against the palestinians there.
in 2007, the u.s. gave aid to israel that added up to $6.8 million per day. this needs to be the principle aspect of palestine solidarity in the u.s. israel uses this money to oppress an
entire people, to commit war crimes, and to wage counter-revolution against the palestinian people. all of this is intended as "deterence" to any other country or people in the region
that would resist u.s. imperialist interests, like iraq, iran, syria, lebanon, etc.
so the target for our support work in the u.s. must be, first and foremost, the u.s. government, as well as multi-national and other corporations that support israel. (of course, israeli
consulates and other direct representatives of the state of israel are also targets in the u.s., but jews and the jewish people in and of themselves are NOT!) for this reason, the
boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement is an essential one.
in summary, if we do not overthrow the system of government in this country, palestinians will continute to have difficulty defeating israel. and if we have an incorrect analysis of
whom the enemy truly is, we will target the wrong one, and won't be able to defeat u.s. imperialism.
