What is the political calculus in Alaska like? Is there any political necessity to court black voters? It would seem the answer is no, given just a 4% population and the strong conservative leaning of the other 96%. Regardless, Palin has just filed paperwork which appears to be the beginning of a president bid in 2012. This is the type of thing that could haunt her in a national election years from now, where close national politics don't allow for throwing away the black vote.
