Mumia is innocent but might have helped frame himself

Somehow words get put in my mouth even though I handed Linn Washington a manuscript stating what I believe. Perhaps he misplaced it. It's clear to me that Mumia never shot anyone. However I don't believe as Mumia's affidavit stating he was doing paperwork not bothering to look for fares when the after-hours bar had just closed at 4 am. Then saw a cop car in the distance and didn't pay attention until he heard a shot and saw his brother staggering, then running toward the scene got shot by he didn't note which cop. Then for some reason spend the entire trial claiming a policeman was shot as a conspiracy to shut Mumia up from his anti-police abuse reports and insights on repression.

More likely Officer Faulkner who was former highschool dropout working his way toward a degree in criminal law was trying to ingratiate himself with his corrupt buddies by beating on Mumia's brother. The prosecutor would not have wanted it know that the police could act like a street gang going after the friends and relatives of those they are mad at. Somehow Faulkner was shot a second time right between the eyes maybe because his corrupt buddies knew a wounded retired Faulkner could testify more freely after he was wounded then while still working the beat.

Philadelphians who been around for thirty years know something is not clear about what happened. I see no sign that Philadelphians want Mumia punished. All I hear is people saying that they don't want to discuss racially polarizing subjects. From this the police lobby concludes that lack of local input means that Philadelphians think he's guilty, and somehow many Mumia supporters conclude that pure terror is why Philadelphians don't get involved. Meanwhile this mess is both bad for tourism and our Philadelphian self-image. Wake up Philadelphia, keeping quiet is not the way to make tense situations go away. One thing I totally agree with Linn about the Inquirer and News is a pure excuse for a newspaper. Maybe people could get together and print out a listings sheet and a sports page and stop the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News from pretending anyone actually reads it for news.

By the way in 1981, I was proud of my input in stopping a bad race riot. But as time goes on I realize that Wallace Mohammad and the Black Muslims did overwhelmingly more than I did. Wallace Mohammad screamed get your woman and children off the street. The children as young as six or seven with their bicycles had been screaming at the one Black police officer that he belonged across the street with his people. Then the lady who later handed out baseball bats pointed to me and the kids told me to get over there to be with my people than began laughing and cooling down while a police official was menacing his club at me daring me to try.

Some of the kids kept coming back despite being carried away by the Muslims but none of them still had their bicyclers with them. So when police on horseback charged the crowd after Officer ‘Ramp was killed, twisting steel didn't cut the crowd or trip the horses. It's ironic but the Black Muslims wanted to divide the races but succeeded in bringing this country together by preventing the dead children that led up to turmoil in the middle east and formerly in South Africa. Bush is empowering al Qaeda with his Iraq war but some of his other actions like urging people not to deface Muslim businesses after 9/11 and humbly appologizing in front of the King of Jordan for Abu Graib abuse was getting in al Qadea's way. America will be in ever increasing danger unless we solve things instead of trying to hide every thing under to rug hoping by ignoring what is wrong maybe it will go away. Mumia is innocent the lack of a routine powder test is more than enough to all but prove he didn't shoot anyone. But in part he helped frame himself. All Philadelphians must start taking offences when people call us vengefully monsters instead of just hoping it will all go away.
