For immediate release:
Jobs With Justice is looking for Volunteers! Interested in workers' rights? Interested in fighting for social justice work? We're starting a new volunteer committee to fight for the rights of workers in Philadelphia, as apart of a broader social justice struggle. We need people to flyer, do data entry, write articles, mailings, photocopying, and especially volunteers that want to engage and be part of the planning process and active organizing for the city wide POWR Campaign, outreaching to workers, and coming up with creative ways to fight for a better Philadelphia for all people.
We will be having our first volunteer meeting at:
The William Way Center
1315 Spruce St. Executive Conference Room Philadelphia, PA 19107
on Wednesday, April 30th, at 5:00PM.
Here, other volunteers will orient you to Jobs With Justice and figure out work to get you involved.
Philadelphia Jobs With Justice is a coalition of faith leaders, students, unions, and community members who fight for living wages, top-notch benefits, and respect on the job for people in Philadelphia. In the past few years, JwJ has been on the front line of efforts to reform corporations like Wal-Mart, Comcast, and Verizon. This year alone, Jobs With Justice was able to help AlliedBarton security guards at Temple and University of Pennsylvania win nearly $2 million in wages and benefits increases; as well as working on a Pennsylvania Sweatfree Campaign to monitor supplier factories working conditions of public employees apparel. Philadelphia Jobs With Justice is dedicated to winning victories that matter for working people.
