On April 22, 2008 activist and writer Sara Flounders will speak at Calvary Church on current U.S. Middle East policies and the Israel Palestine conflict. Ms. Flounders is the co-director of the International Action Center and has written several books and numerous acticles critical of U.S. policies on such topics as Palestine's struggle for human rights, the U.S. military's use of depleted uranium in Iraq and Yugoslavia and the U.S. role in Darfur, Sudan. On April 22nd she will speak on a variety of topics including:

1) The prospects for a change in current U.S. Middle East policies should a democratic candidate become president.

2) The U.S. relationship to Israel and the role of the Israel Lobby.

3) The long-term endurance of the Palestinian struggle in the face of repeated U.S/Israeli efforts to crush it.

4) Israel's role in U.S. relations with Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the rest of the region.

5) The long-term reluctance of the peace movement in the U.S. to critisize Israel or support the struggle for a free Palestine.

The event is a part of 60 days of activities organized by the Philadelphia Al Nakba Coalition commemorating the 60 years of resistance to the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
