On Wednesday, March 26, 2008, national Uhuru Movement leaders Omali Yeshitela and Penny Hess exposed the false “hope” and promise of change offered by Barack Obama and the other presidential candidates. A large and appreciative audience attended the forum on “Elections 2008”and welcomed the wealth of information and analysis demonstrating how Obama offers an illusion of inclusion and “people power” but is bought and paid for by the same Wall street firms and big financial interests as all the other presidential candidates. His advisors include imperialist strategist Zbigniev Brzezinski as well as counterinsurgency experts Anthony Lake, Richard Clarke, Susan Rice, and financial advisors Austan Goolsbee and billionaire Penny Pritzker. The event exposed that Pritzker is actually one of the bankers who first marketed the sub-prime mortgage as a form of “predatory lending” -- which is why Obama says nothing about the sub-prime mortgage crisis, creating hundreds of thousands of foreclosures nationwide, exclusively in African communities. Obama is a neocolonialist, white power in a black face. US imperialism currently faces profound crisis – defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan, economic collapse in the financial and housing sectors. Under cover of representation and “democracy”, Obama would actually enable the US to intensify its attack on the people of the world and the theft of their resources. Yeshitela and Hess showed that true solution is support for the struggles for national liberation waged by the people of Africa, Asia and Latin America so the people can control their own resources and destiny. The Uhuru Movement has programs on the ground that organize African people to liberate themselves and improve their own conditions -- from the All-African People’s Development and Empowerment Project to Burning Spear Media. The African People’s Solidarity Committee, formed by the African People's Socialist Party in 1976, is an historic first, an organization that offers white people an opportunity to work under the leadership of the African working class-led movement for liberation -- the responsibility of anyone who considers themselves “progressive.” More information is available at www.apscuhuru.org. |
