On November 20, 2007, the front desk workers at the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing hotel submitted their managers with a unionimous petition demanding that management be neutral in all future union organizing efforts.
Hyatt has, to date, not responded to this request. They did, however, try to buy the employees: Two weeks after the petition was submitted, every front desk worker was given an immediate, inexplicably high 22% pay increase, and told not to discuss the pay raise with their coworkers. Management has launched new campaigns of discipline and worker intimidation since the petition was submitted. The front desk workers remain united, demanding that management recognize our right to respect, security, and our fair share.
