Catfood Commission meets this Saturday

This Saturday, the commission that wants to see all Americans in poverty without Social Security, is meeting.  Here's the URL to the official invitation page for the "Catfood Commission" (They want to reduce our senior citizens to eating nothing better than catfood during their golden years): Here's a list of talking points that concerned citizens can use while talking to folks about how terrible the commission is: Alan Simpson goofs up and admits the real purpose for the commission's existence: NY Times columnist Paul Krugman wonders what the major malfunction of the deficit scolds can be: Lengthy piece (20 kilobytes), with FDR quote and a heart-breaking sentence: "The bill failed 57-41." Note that 57 Senators voted FOR the bill and only 41 voted against it. Yes, under the much-abused cloture rule, that was enough to kill the bill that would have saved American jobs. |

Very questionable

AFL-CIO presence at meeting

Dean Baker adds further detail to the story of how citizens resisted the stacked deck they were given and insisted on voting to conduct real deficit reductions!
