The article below, reposted from Uhuru News, covers a recent attack by German police on a protest against the police murder of an African named Oury Jalloh. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement stands in solidarity with the struggle for justice and reparations to the family of Oury Jalloh and the entire African community who have faced colonial violence from the white imperialist State (in the UK, the US and throughout the world where Africans are dispersed and colonized) for more than five centuries. The case of Oury Jalloh is one example of how Africans in Europe--many of whom in recent times have migrated there in pursuit of their own resources that have been stolen to build up European society-- experience colonial conditions of repression and violence just as they do in North America. We say, Down with US and European colonial violence! Justice for Oury Jalloh! Reparations to the African Nation!

On Friday, December 30, the public is invited to "meet and greet" Marcos Garcia, Labor Attache to the Venezuelan Embassy in the U.S, in a reception at the Uhuru House, black community organizing center in South St. Petersburg. The event will also be videocast live on UhuruNews.com and carried on Uhuru Radio

Garcia’s visit to St. Petersburg is hosted by the Uhuru Movement, which will take him on a tour of the area, highlighting locally-owned community businesses and sites of significance in the historical struggle for the democratic and human rights of the black community.

The Venezuelan government of Hugo Chavez has consistently extended a hand of friendship and support to black and other impoverished communities in the U.S. and around the world. Their offer of material assistance in the wake of Hurricane Katrina was rebuked by then-President Bush, but the Venezuelan state oil company, Citgo, has donated millions of gallons of heating fuel to needy families through private non-profit groups in the U.S.

Unbought. Unchained. Unbroken.

PHILADELPHIA—The Committee to Elect Diop Olugbala formally announces his candidacy for the City of Philadelphia’s 2011 mayoral election. Olugbala is also known as Wali Rahman.
After long, careful discussion with his most trusted political associates and community activists, it has been determined that the interests of the masses of people in Philadelphia will be best served by a candidate whose platform calls for genuine community control for the people—particularly the historically oppressed black and Latino communities of this city.
Nutter and the Democratic party will not resolve crisis for the people of Philadelphia

This is Volume 1, Issue 1 of The Burning Spear newspaper, the oldest Black Power periodical in continuous publication since the height of the Black Power Movement of the 1960s.
The paper was launched in 1968 as mimeographed sheets, which are unavailable.
This first tabloid newsprint issue was published in 1969 by the Junta of Militant Organizations (JOMO), one of three organizations that later merged to form the African People's Socialist Party.
Today, the African People's Socialist Party continues to publish The Burning Spear newspaper, and leads an international movement for African liberation.
